Multiplication Standard Algorithm

Ever wonder why teachers teach the Lattice Method or Partial Products Method for multiplying? What is this "new" math? From a teacher's perspective, here's a lesson on how to link lattice, partial products, and the standard algorithm strategies for multiplying multi-digit numbers. This lesson focuses on transitioning learners to using the standard algorithm with practice problems.

Division Standard Algorithm

This lesson is designed to help students transition from the partial quotients method for division, into the using the standard algorithm. The lesson covers some vocabulary, how to estimate, and how to deal with remainders as fractions or decimals. The lesson concludes with two word problems that involve long divison.
