Unit 8 focuses on Geometry, focusing on attributes of 2D Polygons and extending understanding to 3D Prisms & Pyramids as well by constructing them using Nets. This Unit focuses on understanding Area of 2D Shapes & Surfrace Area of 3D shapes as a sum of Unit Squares, and Volume as a sum of Unit Cubes. While the main 2D shapes covered are Triangles & Quadrilaterals, the main 3D figures covered are Right Rectangular Prisms, Triangular Prisms, Square Pyramids, & Triangular Pyramids.

8.1

Classifying Polygons: Triangles & Quadrilaterals

This lesson is designed to help learners differentiate Polygons vs. Non-Polygons, Classify the most common types of Polygons, as well as Classify the different types of Triangles & Quadrilaterals.

8.2

Finding the Area of Parallelograms & Triangles

This lesson is designed to help learners intuitively calculate the Area of all types of Parallelograms & Triangles by using Unit Squares.

8.3

Finding the Area of Kites & Trapezoids

This lesson is designed to help learners intuitively calculate the Area of different types of Kites and Trapezoids using several different Methods.

8.4

Finding the Surface Area of Basic Prisms & Pyramids using Nets

This lesson is designed to help learners determine the Surface Area of Basic Prisms and Pyramids by drawing their Nets & Adding up the Areas of the Faces to determine the total Surface Area.

8.5

Finding Volume of Right Rectangular Prisms using Unit Cubes

This lesson is designed to help learners calculate the Volume of Right Rectangular Prisms by using Unit Cubes.
