Unit 1

Positive Rational Numbers

Unit 1 focuses on Positive Rational Numbers, which consists of Natural Numbers (Positive Numbers), Decimals, and Fractions. The Standard Algorithm for Division is applied to converting Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers, and the Standard Algorithm for Multiplication is applied to converting Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions. In addition, Multiplication and Division are utilized to write Prime Factorizations. These Prime Factorizations are used to determine the GCF (Greatest Common Factor), LCM (Least Common Multiple), Simplify Fractions, and Cross-Cancel when Multiplying and Dividing Fractions.

1.1

Multiplication Standard Algorithm

This lesson is designed to help learners transition from using The Lattice Method and Partial Product Method to using The Standard Algorithm strategies for multiplying multi-digit numbers.

1.1

Division Standard Algorithm

This lesson is designed to help learners transition from The Partial Quotients Method for division, into the using The Standard Algorithm.

1.2

Multiplying/Dividing Decimals

This lesson is designed to help learners apply The Standard Algorithms for Mutliplication and Division to mutliplying and dividing decimals.

1.3

Prime & Composite Numbers, & Prime Factorizations

This lesson is designed to help learners differentiate Prime Numbers, Composite Numbers, numbers that don't fit into either category, and write Prime Factorizations.

1.4

Greatest Common Factor (GCF)

This lesson is designed to help learners understand how to determine the GCF (Greatest Common Factor) between numbers.

1.5

Least Common Multiple (LCM)

This lesson is designed to help learners understand how to determine the LCM (Least Common Multiple) between numbers.

1.6

Fraction Basics

This lesson is designed to help learners to convert between Mixed Numbers & Improper Fractions and understand fraction basics.

1.7

Multiplying Fractions

This lesson is designed to help learners multiply Proper Fractions, Improper Fractions, Mixed Numbers, and Whole Numbers with Cross-Cancelling.

1.8

Dividing Fractions

This lesson is designed to help learners divide fractions with Proper Fractions, Improper Fractions, Mixed Numbers, and Whole Numbers with Cross-Cancelling.
